Our 2019 Women's Retreat September 20th-22nd

"Don't Bump My Cup"

"My cup runneth over with what? What is my cup "Full of",  and what am I spilling over with?

Controlling our emotions -- using a parable about teacups and how we choose to allow what will flow in and spill out of our "cups" (our hearts)."

Matthew 23:25-26 "Jesus tells the pharisees that the inside of their cups are filled with greed and self-indulgence. He instructs them to first clean the inside of their cup and dish, and then the outside will also be clean. This is a verification that the Lord really does look at us like a cup."  (NIV)

Meet our Speaker Danae Dobson

"Danae Dobson is an accomplished author who also maintains an active speaking ministry, addressing women at church-related events, such as banquets, teas, and conferences.

Danae was born in Southern California and wrote her first children's manuscript at the age of 12. The book was entitled Woof! A Bedtime Story About A Dog. Upon its publication, she became the youngest author in the 25-year history of Word, Inc. (Dallas.) It's a distinction that she still holds today.

In 1990 Danae received her bachelor's degree in communication from Azusa Pacific University. She has authored 24 books to date, including the popular Woof series that was spun off of her original story. These best-selling books have sold over 400,000 copies and have also been released in the United Kingdom and Indonesia. Other works include Parables For Kids (co-authored with Dr. James Dobson), the Forest Friends series and the Sunny Street Kids’ Club series. Danae has also written two inspirational books for adolescent girls entitled Let's Talk!, and Let's Walk the Talk!  More recently she and her mother, Shirley Dobson, have coauthored an encouraging book on hospitality entitled, Welcome to Our Table. Danae has appeared on the 700 ClubDaystar, and Time For Hope, and has been a guest on more than one hundred radio broadcasts, including Minirth Meier and Focus on the Family. She has also been a featured speaker at the Christian Booksellers Association, Hawaiian Islands Ministries, MOPS, and numerous Christian schools.

Danae is the daughter of Dr. James and Shirley Dobson of the Family Talk broadcast, and has a younger brother, Ryan, who is also an author and speaker, and host of a podcast. Danae continues to reside in Southern California.

OnGuard Self Defense Workshop-Chris Jorgenson (2 Sessions)

1st Session: Talk about awarness. The importance of it, personality types and how personality plays into wheteher or not a woman is perceived as an easy target. Second part of this session is interactive. Learn some basic strikes and how one might utilize them. Hit targets to build some muscle memory and to get an idea of the force needed when defending against an attacker.

2nd Session: This session will go through a few of the most common threats and counter measures with a partner! (Hands on!) Basically, what options do I have if I am getting grabbed from behind as I get into my car? If someone grabs my wrist or arm? We will look at situations like these and work through effective responses.

The Gift of Time-Helen McCormack
